- PhD Graduate, Specialist Mental Health Mentor, Leeds Beckett University
I completed my PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2020. My thesis focused on the legacy of postmodernism in late 20th and early 21st century American literature, interrogating how the cyclical concerns of postmodernism remain relevant today.
My research interests include postmodern aesthetics/culture and theories 'after' postmodernism, accelerationism and accelerationist aesthetics, weird fiction, science fiction (particularly cyberpunk and Afrofuturism), continental theory (particularly post-structuralism), contemporary politics, and bibliotherapy.
I have published a selection of works on the contemporary legacy of postmodern aesthetics in twenty-first century American fiction and culture, and have also presented various papers on American fiction at both national and international conferences (including British Association of American Studies, The American Weird: Ecologies & Geographies, and 50 Shades of Popular Culture).
I have previously taught literary theory and American fiction and culture at Manchester Metropolitan University, and currently teach academic skills at Leeds Beckett University as part of my role as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor.
