Matt Fitzpatrick is the Matthew Flinders Professor of International History at Flinders University, Adelaide. His research is in the field of the comparative history of empires, European colonialism, Pacific history and German history. His most recent books are "A Pacific Power: Liberal Imperialism in German Samoa" and "The Kaiser and the Colonies: Monarchy in the Age of Empire."
