Dr Matt Brearley is a thermal physiologist, 2018 Exercise Scientist of the Year, and Australia’s pre-eminent occupational heat stress consultant, conducting and applying research to guide industry practice. He has assisted a wide range of industries to quantify the physiological impost of working in the heat and examine mitigation strategies in the field. On behalf of the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre, Matt assists disaster and medical responders to manage heat stress and recently contributed to the World Health Organisation COVID-19 heat stress guidelines.
Commencing his career in elite sport settings, Matt previously worked for the Northern Territory Institute of Sport and National Heat Training and Acclimatisation Centre and was the heat specialist for the Australian team in the lead up to, and during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
