Mateja is a visiting research fellow at the Urban Institute, University of Sheffield and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Nissan Institute of Japanese Studies, University of Oxford. In Sheffield, she is working on the urban robotics and automation project, and on politics of humanoid robots in Japan in Oxford. Mateja is broadly specialised in history and anthropology of technology and science.
Mateja’s current projects include the urban robotics and automation, the techno-social eugenics and biopolitics of humanoid robots in Japan, the medical delivery drones in sub-Saharan Africa, and the material history of popular culture and science in Edo-period Japan. Her previous work has been heavily influenced by the study in Japanese science fiction animation in connection with posthumanism and cyborgisation as well as bioethics and philosophy of technology.
