Mary Woessner

I am an Associate Professor at Victoria University, within the Institute for Health and Sport (IHES). I am passionate about promoting safe, equitable and inclusive cultures in sport. I lead a research group on Safe and Inclusive Sport with research streams on: a/ gender-based violence, oppression and inequity in sport, b/ prevention and response to child abuse and neglect in sport and c/ historical aspects of safety, inclusion and justice in sport. I value mixed methods and co-design approaches to research that focus on human-centred outcomes. My research team is committed to implementing trauma informed practices in how we engage in our research and with each other. I have completed training in Trauma Informed Care and Psychological Safety.
