Marwan El Gaddafi

I am a PhD candidate in Religious Studies at McMaster University, specializing in Islamic legal theory. My doctoral research focuses on Al-Taher ibn Ashur's maqasid al-Shariah (the higher purposes of Islamic law), and I apply this framework to contemporary policy debates, including the analysis of Quebec's Bill 9 in this article. I hold a Master of Comparative Jurisprudence from Al Asmarya University and bring a multidisciplinary background in Law and Islamic Law. I also serve as a Teaching Assistant at McMaster.
