Dr Turner's research focuses on understanding the causes of diabetes, and in identifying targets for the development of therapies to treat or prevent the disease. Dr Turner gained his PhD in Medicine at the University of Liverpool, before moving to the USA to undertake postdoctoral studies at The Scripps Research Institute, Harvard Medical School, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then returned to the UK to take up a faculty appointment at St Bartholomew's and The Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry, before later moving to his current position of Associate Professor at Nottingham Trent University.
