- Chancellor and Professor of English, Indiana University Kokomo
Mark Canada is the eighth chancellor of Indiana University Kokomo. A professor of English and founder of a free learning platform (mindinclined.org), he has written and spoken extensively in the fields of literature, language, journalism, history, and media literacy. His seven books include the Audible Originals "Ben Franklin's Lessons in Life" and "Edgar Allan Poe: Master of Horror," along with "Thomas Wolfe Remembered" (University of Alabama Press, 2018) and "Literature and Journalism in Antebellum America" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011). His essays on Edgar Allan Poe, Thomas Wolfe, Benjamin Franklin, Rebecca Harding Davis, and other subjects have appeared in The Conversation, The Chronicle of Higher Education, American Literary Realism, Southern Cultures, Journalism History, The Academic Minute, Poe in Context, and other journals and books. His lectures for general audiences include talks on Poe, Franklin, Wolfe, Douglass, and other writers, as well as the history and lexicon of the English language.
