Marika Miner is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oslo and a Research Fellow at the Centre for International Security at the Hertie School in Berlin. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Davis. Her research explores how new technologies are reshaping the relationship between states and citizens in contentious politics, with a regional focus on India and sub-Saharan Africa. She studies both how states use tools like internet shutdowns, surveillance, and disinformation to suppress dissent, and how activists adapt their protest strategies in increasingly digital—and repressive—environments.
