- Assistant Professor, Department of Food and Resource Economics, University of Copenhagen
Mariève Pouliot is an associate professor at the University of Copenhagen. Her research focuses on how global environmental and economic changes affect rural livelihoods, poverty, and inequality, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. She studies how households depend on land, forests, and other natural resources, and how policies, markets, climate change, and conflict shape their ability to adapt and build resilient livelihoods.
She has extensive field experience across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, working with both quantitative and qualitative methods. Her work contributes to debates on climate change adaptation, sustainable land use, agroforestry, and the political economy of rural development, with a strong emphasis on producing evidence that is relevant for policy and practice.
