I worked in sexuality studies most of the 1980s (present-day debates, history, theory). In recent years I have mainly worked in urban governance. A book pitched to a partly academic-partly popular audience that was very well received was my 2012 "Everyday law on the street: city governance in an age of diversity" (Chicago). Lately I've been researching public-private infrastructure partnerships.
