María Valentina Díaz Goñi

María Valentina Díaz Goñi is a doctoral researcher at the Centre for Social and Health Studies at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, where she is a member of the Nutrition, Lifestyle and Health research group. Her research examines the relationships between diet, physical activity, physical fitness and mental and neurocognitive health across the life course.

She has contributed to research on plant-based and Mediterranean dietary patterns, depression, dementia, disordered eating, cardiorespiratory fitness, daily step counts and cardiovascular rehabilitation. Her work uses methods including systematic reviews, meta-analyses and the analysis of large population datasets to investigate how everyday lifestyle behaviours may affect long-term health and wellbeing.

Before joining the University of Castilla-La Mancha, she was affiliated with the Universidad de la República in Uruguay. She now works with multidisciplinary research teams in Spain and internationally.
