- Clinical Associate Professor, UBC Dept of Family Practice, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia
I have a BA in political science from McGill, and an MD and MHSc from UBC. Earlier in my career, my research was focused on the comparison of long term care quality by provider organizational and ownership (for-profit, nonprofit and public ownership) characteristics. Over the past decade, as I became increasingly aware of the complete absence of epidemiologic research on the health effects of unconventional oil and gas development (fracking) in Northern Canada, I have focused my research on this question. I am part of a multi-disciplinary team comprised of Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers, toxicologists, engineers, epidemiologists, public health and family physicians located in Ontario, and British Columbia including individuals who live and work in Northeast BC.
