Marcia Thereza Couto

Marcia Thereza Couto is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (Brazil), where she works in the Department of Preventive Medicine. A social scientist by training, she holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology and a PhD in Sociology, and her academic trajectory bridges the fields of social sciences and public health. Her research focuses on the sociocultural dimensions of health and illness, with particular emphasis on gender, masculinities, sexuality, HIV prevention, vaccine hesitancy, intersectionality, and qualitative research in health.
