Marcela A. Bustamante-Sánchez

Environmental Biologist (University of Chile) and PhD in Ecology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Currently, I work as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Forestry Sciences at the University of Concepción. My primary research objective is to apply ecological sciences to the challenges of ecological restoration. I have worked on various research projects related to ecological restoration in the Mediterranean and temperate forest zones of Chile, seeking to understand the mechanisms that facilitate or inhibit the natural recovery capacity of forests. In addition to academic work, I have served as treasurer (2006-2013) and director (2014-2015) of the Chilean Society of Ecology, director of the Senda Darwin Foundation (2008 to present), and founder and president of the Chilean Network for Ecological Restoration (2016-2018).
