Madeline Nightingale is a research leader at RAND Europe in the Education, Employment and Skills research group where she leads the Employment research portfolio. Since joining RAND, Nightingale has conducted research on a range of topics including mental health in the workplace, in-work progression, parents’ employment, diversity and inclusion initiatives, childcare and early years policy, financial independence and violence against women and girls. She has led and contributed to projects for the EU institutions and agencies, UK government and What Works Centres. Prior to joining RAND, Nightingale worked in academia, market research and the third sector. Her ESRC-funded Ph.D. from the University of Oxford focused on the relationship between working hours and low pay and how this contributes to gender inequalities in the labour market.
