Madeleine Lewis is a doctoral student in the Community Research and Action program at Vanderbilt University. Their research centers on movements for land and housing justice, with a particular interest in congregation-based community organizing, reparative spatial justice, and cooperative housing development. Lewis has previously worked on action research projects related to eviction court proceedings and limited equity cooperative housing. Currently, Lewis is a graduate researcher on the Reparative Geographies Project, a multi-year public humanities initiative that examines and catalogs how local communities have sought to grapple with the legacies of slavery, colonialism, and racial segregation.
