Lucy Sussex is a New Zealand-born author living in Naarm. She has a PhD from the University of Wales, Cardiff, on the mothers of crime/mystery writing. Her writing areas include fiction and non-fiction, bibliography, anthologies of nineteenth-century and modern writers, genre, horror, writing for children and speculative fiction. Research interests are primarily Australiana/New Zealandiana and the histories of forgotten but interesting individuals, mostly women, with excursions into science, as in Neanderthals. She has published various collections of her short fiction, as well as novels. She has won awards and been translated into Japanese, Russian and some East European languages. In 2025 she will publish two works, collaborative with Megan Brown, OUTRAGEOUS FORTUNES, a biography of pioneering crime author Mary Fortune and her criminal son George; and an collection of Fortune's detective fiction, NOTHING BUT MURDERS.
