Lucy Bennett

I am a researcher and lecturer specialising in popular music, digital culture, and fandom, with a particular focus on how the internet and social platforms shape music audiences, creativity, and live experiences. My teaching and scholarship centre on popular music and online fan cultures, and my current research explores TikTok fandom and the cultural and economic impact of digital platforms on contemporary music, alongside live music fans and issues of access, participation, and experience.

At Cardiff, I lead and designed the modules Popular Music, Media & Culture and Media Fandom, contribute to core teaching on the history of mass communication with a focus on the music industry, and supervise postgraduate research in these areas. I also serve as Course Director for the BA in Media, Journalism & Culture.
