Dr. Lorena Escandon is interested in creative collaboration, and how technological (data exploration, patent mining, etc.) and non-technological (canvas, serious games, card games, etc.) tools can help with idea generation, particularly for new product development. She is also interested in the development of non-conventional learning programs like bootcamps, hackathons and intensive courses in the areas of innovation and creativity for participants of all ages. In her PhD research she looked at the role of information exploration at different stages of new concept development to identify where access to information can impact the level of novelty of a new concept. Her doctoral research was funded by scholarships from the Mexican government.
Dr. Escandón is from Mexico, where she obtained a B. in Information Technology, and has lived in Sweden to study a MSc. In Entrepreneurship, Spain and now Canada, where she completed a Ph.D. in Innovation Management. She speaks Spanish, English and French.
