Lloyd Baiyegunhi

Professor Lloyd Baiyegunhi is a well-established researcher in the broad field of Agricultural Economics, with expertise spanning several sub-disciplines including agricultural production economics, agricultural finance and farm management, economics of agricultural technology and innovation adoption, sustainable rural and agricultural development, environment and natural resource economics, food security and food systems, climate change, and rural poverty.
He has a strong track record of scientific leadership, capacity building, and partnership development, all geared toward addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by farmers and rural communities—particularly in marginal areas of developing countries. His work focuses on overcoming constraints related to land tenure insecurity, inadequate land management practices, limited access to production inputs, credit, and information, and high transaction costs in input and product markets, often exacerbated by poor rural infrastructure.
Professor Baiyegunhi is currently based at the School of Agriculture and Science, University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
