Lisa Purse

(She, Her)

Lisa Purse’s research examines how digital technologies shape cinema, and how cinema deals with bodies and ideas about bodies – both those on screen and those behind the scenes.

She has written widely on digital visual effects, on action films, and on screen representation and the creative industries. Her books include Digital Imaging in Popular Cinema (2013), and Action Cinema Since 2000 (2024).

She currently leads the Screen Industry Voices research project (AHRC-IAA-funded), which examines the challenges faced by screen freelancers and screen businesses in current market and policy conditions.
