Dr. Emili’s research focuses on contaminant transport and biogeochemical cycling in freshwater ecosystems. She is the lead investigator for the Freshwater and Environmental Ecosystems Research Group, Institute for Sustainable Agricultural, Food and Environmental Science (SAFES). Dr. Emil’s current projects include microplastic contamination and “blue” carbon accumulation in coastal wetlands. Dr. Emili supports undergraduate research in her lab and in the field. She teaches courses in geology, geography, soil science, and environmental studies.
