Lisa Bornstein teaches, researches and practices in the fields of urban development, the politics of planning, comparative policy, and participatory processes. Currently she is based at McGill University, with a primary appointment in the School of Urban Planning and membership in the Faculty of Medicine (Institute for Health & Social Policy, Dept. of Social Studies of Medicine). Past work as a development practitioner included many years in Mozambique, South Africa, and Brazil. Recent projects include participatory action research around climate adaptation (Colombia, Chile, Haiti, Ecuador, and Cuba), psycho-social and spatial research into flooding dynamics in Quebec, and community-university partnered research around reconciling large scale development with local and community aspirations in Montreal.
