- Associate Dean for Curriculum & Instruction and Faculty, Judy Genshaft Honors College, University of South Florida
My educational background includes a Master's of Divinity and a PhD in Health Communication, resulting in a research focus on families’ engagement with their spiritual identities, especially in decision-making in pediatric palliative care. I use qualitative methods of research such as narrative, auto-ethnography, performance, poetic inquiry, and ethnography. In my medical humanities courses, I explore global health, disability, and end-of-life using experiential learning such as art, service-learning, and study abroad. I also speak Spanish and have led multiple student trips to the Dominican Republic and Panama. In the spring of 2020, I led a group of 15 students to the University of Exeter for a semester abroad program that was interrupted by the COVID-19 outbreak. My family, including one person with a disability considered at-risk, experienced lock-down in the U.K. from March until June of 2020 and then returned to Florida.
