Born and raised in Japan, Libera Amadiwakama Mochihashi is a PhD student in Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary. She will be supervised by Dr. Kaori Wada and co-supervised by Dr. Maya Yampolsky. Libera holds a BA in Psychology from Rikkyo University and an MA in Clinical Psychology from Sophia University (Jōchi Daigaku), where she conducted research on the body image development of multicultural youth in Japan.
Her professional and academic work focuses on race, mental health, and representation in Japan, approached through a cross-cultural and social justice lens. Libera has presented her research at an international conference and has clinical experience across medical, educational, and community mental health settings.
