- Specially Appointed Associate Professor, Earth-Life Science Institute, Institute of Science Tokyo
I'm a protein historian studying the earliest stages of protein evolution and the coevolution between proteins and metabolism. I'm an experimentalist by training that moonlights as a bioinformatician.
I'm currently a Specially Appointed Associate Professor at the Earth-Life Science Institute, Institute of Science Tokyo and an Affiliate Research Scientist at the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science.
Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Scholar with Danny Tawfik (Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel) studying structural bioinformatics and the evolution of nucleic acid-binding domains. I did my Ph.D. under the supervision of Mike Blaber (Florida State University, USA) on protein folding and simplified protein design.
My hobbies include learning Japanese and travelling around the world.
