My research interests are teachers' work, school policy, ethics, philosophy in schools, and critical approaches to Education Studies. My current research work focuses on Innovative Learning Environments (ILE) and developing philosophical investigations that can inform thinking about education and schooling practice and policy. Related areas of interest include the question of teachers' critical reflective practice and the evolving role and nature of the concept of 'knowledge' in the 21st century curriculum. I am a member of the Australian Association for Research in Education (AARE), the Association of Learning Environments and the Philosophy of Education Society of Australasia (PESA). I authored From Technicians to Teachers: Ethical Teaching in the Context of Globalized Education Reform (Continuum, 2012) and Being a Teacher in the 21st Century: A Critical New Zealand Study (Springer, 2017). I have also co-edited Transforming Education: Design & Governance in Global Contexts (Springer, 2018), and Writing for Publication: Liminal Reflections for Academics (Springer, 2021).
