- Professor of English Literature, University of Westminster
I am Professor of English Literature at the University of Westminster. I work on modernism, the twentieth century and contemporary novel and the relation between publishing and literary criticism.
I was educated at the University of Warwick (BA (Hons) in English & American Literature 1987), Birkbeck College, London (MA in Gender, Culture and Society 1993), and the University of Westminster (PhD in English Literature 2000).
Over the last few years my work has concentrated the role of publishing in literary culture and postwar women novelists. I have co-edited, with Georgina Colby and Kaja Marczewska, The Contemporary Small Press: Making Publishing Visible (Palgrave, 2020). My most recent work is Republishing Postwar Experimental Novels By Women: The Case of Ann Quin (Cambridge, forthcoming).
