Leah Riches is a PhD candidate at Monash University in Melbourne. Her PhD thesis focuses on the commemoration of Anzac Day between 1955-1985 and is part of a larger Australian Research Council (ARC) funded grant to write a history of Anzac Day. The project is headed by Professor Bruce Scates at Monash University.
In 2011 she won the Australian Army History Unit’s CEW Bean Medal for Military History for her Honours thesis Remembering Fromelles, the first time the prize had been awarded to an Honours student. Leah has also been awarded scholarships at the Australian War Memorial and the Menzies Centre at Kings College in London.
