Senior Lecturer in English Literature and Wellcome Trust Career Development Fellow at Swansea University. Psychotherapeutic counsellor (MBACP, MNCPS Accr.) with a focus on bibliotherapy. Researching neurodivergence in Europe in the period 1550-1750 and how neurodivergent people relate to it, and how engaging with literary texts can support neurodivergent people's wellbeing.

Principle Investigator of the project AMEND - Early Modern European Neurodivergence (2025-2030), funded by the Wellcome Trust.

Author of the books Refusing to Behave in Early Modern Literature (Edinburgh University Press, 2022), Shakespeare and Neurodiversity (Cambridge University Press, 2025), and Early Modern Neurodivergence (Oxford University Press, 2026), and various articles and book chapters on neurodivergence, cognition, and literature.
