My scholarly approach is a combination of John Dewey’s pragmatic emphasis on meaningful activity in learning and Malcolm Knowles’ andragogy and self-direction in learning. Both of these fit well in UW-Stout’s Polytechnic designation and long history of hands-on, applied learning. I strive to not only be seen as a competent professional with up-to-date skills, but also as approachable and helpful to students in their academic pursuits.
