Dr. Laura Derksen is a Senior Researcher at the Frisch Centre for Economic Research in Oslo,
Norway. Her research examines how information and social interactions impact health behavior,
networks, and education, with a focus on southern Africa. Her work in global health has shown
how information, appointments, and electronic medical records can increase demand for HIV
care, with important implications for policy, patient welfare, and data privacy. Her education-
related work explores how access to the restricted internet can improve reading skills and
academic performance, and shape student networks.
