Laura Alonso is a postdoctoral researcher at the Australian National University (ANU), where she researches how satellite Earth observation can support bushfire management, including preparedness and prescribed burning planning.

She has a background in forestry engineering and has experience in research and university teaching in Spain, Portugal and Australia. She has published around 20 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on applications of remote sensing to forest management, including wildfire management.
