A/Prof Larissa Sandy is an Associate Professor in Criminology at the University of Nottingham. Currently, Larissa is leading research aimed at enhancing reporting mechanisms for sex workers in Nottingham. The project is a collaboration with POW Nottingham, a local sex worker support organisation, that involves integrating the expertise of diverse stakeholders to foster a safer, more responsive environment. The research is not only informing academic discourse but also translating into tangible societal benefits.

Prior to joining Criminology at Nottingham, she was a Senior Lecturer in Criminology & Justice Studies at RMIT University. Larissa specialises in sex work and human trafficking, having researched with sex workers in Australia and Asia-Pacific for over twenty-five years and has published widely on the issue. In Australia, Larissa completed a large-scale project on the career development needs of sex workers in Victoria, which included working with a team of sex worker peer researchers and was a prestigious Vice Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Criminology at Flinders University, with her work exploring Cambodia’s human trafficking laws.
