Laetitia Fourie

Laetitia Fourie is a lecturer at the University of the Free State (UFS) and the Director of the UFS Centre for Labour Law. She is also an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and serves on the Advisory Board of the UFS Disability Rights Unit. Laetitia holds an LLB (cum laude), an LLM in Mercantile Law (Labour Law), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning, and is completing her PhD at Leiden University, Netherlands. Her research has been supported by the Leiden University Fund and the University of Liverpool School of Law and Social Justice. Her research explores the relationship between disability rights, labour law, health, and social justice, with a particular focus on the interpretation of disability and reasonable accommodation in the context of health-related impairments. Her work increasingly adopts interdisciplinary and creative methods approaches, including storytelling and public engagement. In addition, she has developed an established research portfolio on albinism, exploring issues relating to disability, labour rights, access to healthcare, climate-sensitive care, stigma and inclusion. Through collaborations across law, health sciences, and advocacy, her work seeks to translate research into practical and educational tools that advance dignity, accessibility, and social impact.
