Ladan Hashemi

I am Dr Ladan Hashemi, Senior Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer at City St George’s, University of London. My work focuses on gender-based violence, domestic abuse, childhood adversity, health inequalities, migration, disability and the social determinants of health. I teach sociology of health and health policy within the MBBS Medical programme and lead Comparative Health Systems on the MSc Global Health. My background spans psychology, sociology, public health and social epidemiology, with over twenty years of experience in teaching, research, supervision and academic leadership across the UK, New Zealand and Iran. The ultimate goal of my research is to inform the development of appropriate population-based interventions targeting gender-based violence and to assess and inform the effectiveness of central government policies and strategies designed to improve family and child wellbeing.
