A/Prof Carson-Chahhoud is an Associate Research Professor and Lead of the Translational Medicine and Technology Group at the University of South Australia. Broadly speaking her research interests include evidence-based medicine, translational health research, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, technology integration with health as well as clinical practice improvement initiatives. More specifically, her research focusses on respiratory medicine (asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis and others), as well as tobacco control through cessation and prevention, which includes management of tobacco-related illnesses (e.g., cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer etc.). Another arm of her work is investigating the potential for augmented reality technology delivered via a smartphone to improve how we communicate in health about medical procedures, self-management and to improve translation of evidence into clinical practice and policy.

Kristin is a national Board Director for the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) and invited member of the National Tackling Indigenous Smoking Committee. She also holds positions as Associate Professor titleholder with the University of Adelaide and Research Fellow with the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI).
