Kristin Bianchini

As a Postdoctoral Researcher with Acadia University and Birds Canada, I am investigating the factors affecting common loon reproductive success in Ontario.
I have an interdisciplinary background, which has given me a combination of laboratory, field, and statistical skills. I have a PhD in Ecotoxicology from the University of Saskatchewan, where I studied how oil spill pollutants affect how well birds can fuel before departing for migration; I have a MSc in Integrative Biology from the University of Guelph, where my research looked at how hypoxia impacts hemoglobin development in rainbow trout; and I have a BSc in Physiology and Developmental Biology from the University of Alberta.
I am fascinated by how animals respond to environmental and man-made stressors, and the overall goal of my work to date has been to increase our understanding of the threats to wildlife to help direct animal conservation efforts.
