Kirssa Ryckman studies the dynamics of nonstate conflict, including terrorism, civil war, and nonviolent campaigns. She is particularly interested in how civilians are affected by conflict, whether as victims of violence or agents of change. She teaches courses at the undergraduate and master’s level on terrorism, strategic nonviolent conflict, human security, and statistics. She also serves as the Assistant Director of the International Security Studies program. Her work has been published in the Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Peace Research, Conflict Management and Peace Science, and the Journal of Global Security Studies. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 2012.
