- Lecturer of Biological Sciences, USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences
I was given an anatomy atlas around the time I was 5 years old, and I have loved learning about the human body ever since. I went to The University of Texas and majored in Evolutionary Biology. In college I played for UT's Quadball team (it was called 'quidditch' back when I played), and during this time I learned that I could apply my physiology classes to my love of athletics. With science, you can make people bigger, faster, and stronger. So after college I got my Master's degree in Exercise Physiology at UT in the Human Performance Lab. In my Master's I worked as a teaching assistant and found my true calling as a teacher of physiology.
After some time as a research assistant at UT studying the nervous system, I went to do my PhD at UC Davis. I studied stem cells in the intestines. After finishing my PhD I started my teaching career at University of Southern California, where I get to teach all kinds of fun classes including Muscle Physiology, Pathophysiology, Endocrinology, Nutrition, and more.
When I'm not teaching science, I love listening to and playing music, cheering for the Oak/LA/LV Raiders, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and watching Star Wars movies.
