Dr. Ken Brackstone is a Research Fellow and Insight Analyst in the Clinical Informatics Research Unit, University Hospital Southampton. He is also a member of the International Blast and Injury Research Network.
Ken is currently working on a variety of global health research projects, including: (1) understanding the nuanced effects of war-related trauma (blast characteristics) on mental health outcomes in refugees and internally displaced persons, (2) understanding the psychosocial factors that influence disease transmissions in West Africa, such as people’s attitudes toward health, disease, and vaccines, and (3) understanding predictors of telehealth usability across the globe, including differences in telehealth usage across countries.
More recently, Ken joined the World Health Organization (WHO) Technical Advisory Group for the consultation of the WHO training course on building the capacity of health care workers providing care to refugees and migrants.
