Dr Kat McFerran PhD RMT RGIMT is an internationally renowned music therapy researcher and scholar. Her pioneering work explores the role of music in promoting wellbeing for youth, utilising qualitative and mixed methods approaches. McFerran has made substantial contributions through publications, securing research grants, delivering keynotes worldwide, and providing professional leadership both in her profession, faculty and across the university. In addition to 5 authored books and 2 edited texts, 120 peer-reviewed journal articles and 33 book chapters, she has published a TedX talk with more than 130K views on Coming Back from the Darkside with Music, and created a free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) boldly titled How Music Can Change Your Life (Coursera) with more than 30K learners. She is committed to the use of music for fostering mutually empowering relationships that support people's full flourishing.
