Dr Kath Kenny is a sessional academic at Macquarie University and the University of Sydney. Her book Staging a Revolution: When Betty Rocked the Pram (2022 Upswell) was awarded the 2023 History Publication Award at the Victorian Community History Awards and longlisted for the Mark & Evette Moran Nib Literary Award. Her PhD thesis on the Australian women’s liberation movement’s cultural renaissance on stage and screen received the Macquarie University Vice-Chancellor’s Commendation for Academic Excellence and was short-listed for the Australian Women's and Gender Studies Association PhD award. She is also an essayist and arts reviewer whose work has appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald, ABC, Meanjin, The Conversation, The Saturday Paper, The Monthly and elsewhere. Her most recent works include the lead chapters for the anthologies #MeToo: Stories from the Australian Movement (Picador 2019) and Fashion: New Feminist Essays (Routledge 2020). She is a board member of the Sydney Writers’ Room and an associate member of the Centre for Media History.
