Kate Booth is a human geographer and activist academic. Her work addresses socio-ecological inequity in the context of rapid and unprecedented global change.

She leads the Critical Collapse Studies research program - addressing global collapse with a commitment to socio-ecological theory, equitable change, and emancipatory politics. This program comprises a team of academics and PhD candidates and leverages Kate's research investigating geographies of insurance and society in a changing climate.

Her teaching also addresses rising inequity and the escalating economic and social impacts and risks of unmitigated climate change. In 2021, Kate led the successful reaccreditation of the University’s Master of Planning by the Planning Institute of Australia. As part of the Masters, she co-ordinates KGA742/3 Research Thesis A/B, and co-ordinates and teaches KGA521 Urban Planning and Design and KGA705 Climate Change: Economics, Politics and Planning.
