Katarzyna Kapiec

Katarzyna Kapiec is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures, Polish Academy of Sciences. She received her PhD in Archaeology from the University of Warsaw (Poland), where she conducted research on the Southern Room of Amun in the temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari. Her research primarily focuses on the iconography of New Kingdom Egypt, with particular emphasis on the early Eighteenth Dynasty.
Katarzyna also has significant archaeological experience, having participated in excavations in the Mediterranean region, including sites in Paphos (Cyprus), Risan (Montenegro), and Alexandria (Egypt). In addition, her studies extend to faience objects from Asyut (Egypt).
Since the fall of 2024, she has been conducting a post-doctoral project titled "Textiles in the Ritual Context in New Kingdom Ancient Egypt: Lexicography, Symbolism, and Use," which is funded by the National Science Centre in Poland.
