I am a Professor of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Biology at the University of New England in Armidale, where I work on the ecology, conservation and management of vertebrate fauna, mainly mammals. I have undertaken field work on a diversity of mammals in Canada, Australia, Mexico and Bhutan, and have published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters on this research. I have also published a major book on Kangaroos ("Kangaroos: Portrait of an Extraordinary Marsupial")
