Kanika Samuels-Wortley

Kanika Samuels-Wortley is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Systemic Racism, Technology, and Criminal Justice in the Department of Criminology and Justice at Ontario Tech University. Her research explores the intersection of race, racism, and the criminal justice system in Canada. Samuels-Wortley’s research has influenced both provincial and federal inquiries into the impact of racial bias within the justice system, including experiences with the police, victimization, and engagement in crime. Furthermore, her research has been featured as well as quoted in numerous national news reports, podcasts, blogposts, and literary journals.
