Dr Kane Middleton is an Associate Professor of Sport and Occupational Biomechanics in the Centre for Sport and Human Performance Research at La Trobe University. He completed his PhD in Sports Biomechanics at The University of Western Australia and has previously held post-doctoral positions at The University of Western Australia and the University of Wollongong.

Kane has expertise in the quantification of physical performance (including military task performance), biomechanical modelling of human movement, and the use of non-invasive wearable technology to measure movement, including leading validation projects for international sporting organisations.

Kane's primary research interests span 1) accuracy-based sports and activities, 2) occupational physical performance, and 3) movement variability. He has published >90 peer-reviewed journal articles, 2 book chapters, and >50 reports for industry partners. Kane has a strong track record of industry engagement, having collaborated with the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, David Caple and Associates, Defence Science and Technology Group, data61/CSIRO, the Victorian Institute of Sport, and the Australian Institute of Sport.
