- Associate Professor of Counseling Psychology (Clinical Psychology by Training), Howard University
I am a licensed clinical Psychologist and have been seeing clients for the last 20 years. In addition to private practice, I am a tenured professor at Howard University, and also the Associate Managing Director of the Association of Black Psychologists national office. In these capacities, I have developed an expertise in teaching, research & practice, in the areas of: the psycho-social determinants of health, the psychological impact of trauma, and the psychological correlates of poor health/mental health relative to racism (both internalized and externalized) among people of color, with an emphasis on African Americans/Blacks throughout the Diaspora. I also have done a fair amount of program evaluation on a number of training and research grants through the National Science Foundation (NSF). Further, I have conducted research and training abroad, and am a Fulbright Scholar (2011/Brazil) and a AAAS Scholar (2013/Kenya.)
